...just a download away...
Get professional level music notation at a fraction
of the cost and a fraction of the effort!
Although songwriters' lead sheets are often only lyrics and chords it never hurts to add to your musical story by writing out your melody too.
And there may be times where that's what's called for and it can certainly help in your demo production or performing, particularly with other musicians.
There are a few, fine, high level, composition programs out there that can do the job but they're pricey too.
You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars though to get quality notation.
You can now enjoy quality notation creation with a highly regarded program and you don't even need to know music theory.
This is a good thing as many a great songwriter don't read music although they're great writers, players and performers.
If you're new to music notation or even skilled but don't want to invest heavily in a high level program you can get quality printed sheet music of your own compositions very reasonably and with an easy learning curve.
Read on below to find out more on just how handily you can start producing finely crafted notation of your songs - whether it be a chords and melody lead sheet or a more elaborate full band or choral arrangement.
And hear about the great experience other users have enjoyed!
To say it's easy ... it's practically childs' play...
"The program is fun and easy"
"Play Music" has helped me learn more on how to write music. The program is fun and easy.
When my band wanted to write a new song we went straight to my computer. As a beginning drummer I would use the program to help me right down the notes to my favorite bands songs.
"Play Music" is a great music learning program that is fun and easy for all ages!
Gabe Gutner - Aspiring Drummer - Age 12!
Accomplished musician or not there are times when putting down more than just chords and lyrics is helpful if not indeed essential for presenting your songs.
Consider a situation where you're sending off one of your songs to a mail order demo house and you really want them to nail your melody.
Wouldn't it be nice to have the melody written out so they don't have to totally interpret your singing?
Or consider a time when your singer wants a lead sheet with the chords and melody notated so she can get the full intended specific notes and phrasing for your song.
Wouldn't it be nice not to have to spend weeks in a music composition course to get it done?
Or how about when you've got to perform a song with a band who say it would be easier for them to play along to a lead sheet with their parts written out.
Wouldn't it be nice to create different lead sheets for each member's part?
What if you need to create a guitar tablature chart for exact guitar fingerings?
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to for yourself or another guitarist to learn a part and play along?
Or what if you're writing songs for a musical and you need a piano-vocal score or even an entire choral piece.
Would you enjoy using a program that makes it easy enough to notate music that even a twelve year old kid can do it?

When you're in a situation where you need to literally plot out the notation of your song, right down to notes and rests and key signatures, today's composition software really helps.
But if you're not versed in music theory or don't know anything about music composition you've been left out in the cold until now.
Play Music was designed by an accomplished musician and engineer who used to sell the high roller composition programs.
He saw, that as incredibly capable as those programs are, they can be a big leap for the beginning to novice musician to learn - not to mention a big financial investment.
So he went to work and created a very capable yet easy to use and very affordable program probably with some hand-to-mouth songwriters in mind ;-)
A program without a huge learning curve that was designed to take beginners by the hand and still please accomplished musicians.
A program set up to readily allow you the ability to put your lyrics, chords and melody all together in a well formatted structure that any musician would think you bought at the local sheet music store.
Play Music accomplishes these tasks and more by leading you through the notation process with a smart program layout and many pre-set templates to get your song plotted sooner and easier.
Keep reading to see all the program's benefits that month after month make Play Music the #1 selling music notation program here at Songwriting Software Plus.

Mission Control Power Tools To Build Your Hit Song
Here's a look under the hood.
Acquaint yourself with the functions of these tools right now
and you'll have a big jumpstart into the program.
The Toolbar - See and quickly access the most used functions of the program on the main toolbar. It is comprised of a group of popup menus and boxes for the selection of voices, zoom, tools (arrow, pencil and eraser), etc.
Each box displays an icon which represents a tool. To select a tool, click its icon.
The toolbar contains the following items:
The Zoom Menu - Get up close when you're entering in 16th notes for one of today's popular groove styles and then zoom back when you need to see the bigger picture of how your song is coming together.
With the Zoom menu, you can set the zoom factor you want for the document. You have a choice between these possibilities: 100%, 400%, Fit Page and Fit Width (100% being the unchanged page dimension).
The Arrow Tool - Need to move a couple notes to tweak your melody line? With the arrow tool, you can edit all movable items directly on the score.
When you click the box, the arrow cursor appears. With it, you can move notes, symbols, and beams, select a region in the score, etc.
The Pencil Tool - Need to write in an a stretch of eighth notes for your chorus - just grab the pencil tool and write them in. The pencil tool allows you to write on the document whatever you need to enter.
And whenever you select a symbol or a note from a palette, the pencil tool is automatically activated. The cursor, in the case of symbols, changes into a +, and in the case of notes, it changes into a note of the selected value.
The Eraser Tool - Made a mistake - no problem - you can cancel items directly on the score with the eraser tool.
The Function Boxes - Enjoy a lot of convenient editing functions just like in your word processor with the different function boxes.
You can apply Redo (Edit menu), Cut (Edit menu), Copy (Edit menu), Auto center Staves (Score menu), Tie Notes (Note menu), Tuplets (Note menu), Beam Selection (Note menu) and Hide Control Points (Tools menu).
Save - Save as you go by clicking the Save symbol - it's the small yellow icon with the floppy disc symbol.
Redraw - Clicking on the small painter icon will redraw the entire score.
The Voice Menu - With the Voice menu you can select the current voice (instrument sound you want). Once you have selected the current voice, all notes in other non-selected voices will appear in gray.
The first item (All) in the Voice menu reactivates and displays, in black, all present voices.
Back to Score - The Back to Score box allows you to return to the score.
Mixer - Do some studio engineering in the Mixer window.
It allows you to change the midi channel, program changes, and change the instrument name for individual staves.
Page Menu - Using the Page Menu you can quickly flip from page to page in your song.
Play - Now that your song is done go ahead an play it through your computer. Enjoy hearing your written work come through your speakers.
Counter Display - While your song is playing view its length in the Counter Display as your song plays.
This box activates the palette with the measure numbers, the beat, and the duration in hours-minutes-seconds during the performance of the score.

For printing and developing scores and working out arrangements there is no application out on the market that combines this amount of depth with such ease of use. You need to be a technician to figure out the notation applications that are out on the market today.
I use it for my lesson plans and for composing my own work.
