For those looking for a low cost yet nicely performing recording program today we'll highlight Acoustica's Mixcraft.
There are many good programs on the market for home software based recording like Cubase for Windows or Logic for Apples for example. However, for those wanting something inexpensive yet very capable you can start with lesser known programs and move up later if you choose.
Programs such as the better known noted programs typically have a larger base of support for help like large user forums and sometimes more technical support but cost more accordingly.
Also larger programs do offer the ability to scale up later to their more advanced programs fairly seamlessly if you want - so keep that in consideration if your looking to change or buy a home recording program that can greatly expand in capability on the fly and possibly soon.
On the flip side companies like Acoustica are smaller but offer very capable and functional programs with more intimate support as their staffs are smaller.
