I hope you're enjoying the oncoming summer if you live in the southern hemisphere and if you live in the northern hemisphere I hope you're enjoying the coming onset of winter. Here in Los Angeles right now it is getting cooler, in the 30s F at night lately, and rainy and snowy.

Have you ever had a song idea that you felt called upon you to paint the literal setting of your song and as part of the scene it might have needed to include something as everyday as a blue sky, but somehow just saying blue sky wouldn't do the job?

This scenario is intended to describe a common situation in songwriting where just by virtue of being in the human experience we're all dealing with a lot of the same themes to write about. And accordingly it's so nice when you can describe something that may have been written thousands of times before but in a different way with your own take on it.

It's as old as man himself - the idea of necessity being the mother of invention. When men and women were attracted to the power of fire they eventually discovered the mechanisms to create sparks and then before long invented the wheel and we've all been on a roll ever since :-)

This process of developing tools has continued throughout history of course and in today's society such tools are quite often software.

With that said, and given the lyric dilemma in the first couple of paragraphs above, a scenario pretty much met by us all as we write, the idea of having software tools to help provide choices to stretch our thinking and stimulate our creativity can be an attractive and productive option.
