Hello First up; Editor's Note (from the laptop of Robert Curtis) Followed by Items: 1. A Perfect Brainstorming Co-writer
Editor's Note: I hope you're enjoying the oncoming summer if you live in the southern hemisphere and if you live in the northern hemisphere I hope you're enjoying the coming onset of winter. Here in Los Angeles right now it is getting cooler, in the 30s F at night lately, and rainy and snowy. Yes, even here in sunny southern California, you can now see the beautiful mountains that surround the area covered in snow. Summer or winter - each season has its own storms and lately that got me to thinking about a different type of storm, a brainstorm. That lead me to thinking about a particular standout brainstorming and frankly co-writing program offered at Songwriting Software Plus. You may have read about it before and passed it up but if you're ready to take a second or even your first look at a perfect brainstorm :-) then come along on today's software spotlight on our best selling brainstorming, co-writing, creativity inspiring program, ParaMind.
Have you ever had a song idea that you felt called upon you to paint the literal setting of your song and as part of the scene it might have needed to include something as everyday as a blue sky, but somehow just saying blue sky wouldn't do the job? This scenario is intended to describe a common situation in songwriting where just by virtue of being in the human experience we're all dealing with a lot of the same themes to write about. And accordingly it's so nice when you can describe something that may have been written thousands of times before but in a different way with your own take on it. Using Tools To Make Fire It's as old as man himself - the idea of necessity being the mother of invention. When men and women were attracted to the power of fire they eventually discovered the mechanisms to create sparks and then before long invented the wheel and we've all been on a roll ever since :-) This process of developing tools has continued throughout history of course and in today's society such tools are quite often software. With that said, and given the lyric dilemma in the first couple of paragraphs above, a scenario pretty much met by us all as we write, the idea of having software tools to help provide choices to stretch our thinking and stimulate our creativity can be an attractive and productive option. Brainstorming To Clearing Weather When you're at the seedling of a song idea or are stuck on your story line the notion of creative thinking or brainstorming comes into play. You can begin to spin ideas in your head and start to come up with associated items and as we've been discussing you can further optimize this process by using software designed to "brainstorm". A highly regarded program in this arena is ParaMind. When there are times you want to aid and maximize a brainstorming session you can give that process a huge power boost by using a program like ParaMind. ParaMind can take the seedling of an idea, let's say it's just a few words, and then associate several related items to them. And it's not simply a process that you might develop with a software thesaurus it's more. ParaMind will pull in words that are synonyms of the initial words you've entered but it goes beyond that to produce for your viewing words that have related meanings. Thus you're given a much bigger palette of words and ideas to either incorporate into your song and bring more clarity or to take you in different directions. Write And Write Again Once you begin to actually have lines of lyric to work with your song of course has now begun to take shape. Again this may be a point where some lines you're quite happy with and others you may think need some work. As you review your lines of lyric you may come up with some changes on the spot but there may be lines that you feel might benefit from from a lot more creative assessment. When you're at a point where you may want a lot more input as you review a line of lyric you can pop up ParaMind, load the line and then direct the program to rewrite it changing only one word with several options or picking several words of your line for it to rewrite. In an instant literally hundreds of choices will potentially fill several pages of rewritings of your one line. Because the program writes the new lines one beneath the other it's an easy task to scan the new lines and easily note what choices you may like. Bring More To Your Co-writing Bringing your head and your heart to a co-writing session is a great start and may be enough but it never hurts to have an arsenal of tools at your disposal to draw upon to help stimulate and inspire the creative flow. This is particularly helpful when you get stuck and conversely when you want to step on the accelerator of your processing when you're creative mind is on fire. Having a program like ParaMind along works great in just such situations - either at your home, possibly on your desktop computer, or portably on your laptop. Whether it's just you and your computer or with another co-writer you'll never be at a loss for ideas or even words with ParaMind in tow. ParaMind can be your perfect brainstormer and co-writer.
